In the online interviewing session, almost everything went well with Chris. He was so enthusiastic and helpful to all students who were able to ask him questions. In general, he was very cooperative as he answered many questions from different areas.
Some facts made sense to me as he elaborates on them, such as different models are adopted by different countries according to the market needs. I was not very surprised when he said that Europe uses different model than US in the long tail because I believe the Middle East has its own standards too, as he implies that countries in different places vary in the long tail economically in certain industries. On the other hand, I was surprised when he said that the used cars market (adopted by eBay) is better than the new cars market in the long tail, or as he said the new cars market is not considered in the long tail.
Finally, Chris made it clear by answering a student’s question about the possibilities for small businesses to take place in the monopoly and large businesses world. Chris assures that a number of small businesses are already on the track of business, and with no surprise they are doing just fine for many reasons. Although, we have got many monopolists in certain industries, but even though, the new economy “the world of niches” is extended which permits other businesses to emerge, and those businesses just need to be findable in order to be successful.
